Moscow, December 6, Interfax – The Russian Imperial House will strive for the rehabilitation of the tsar family without resorting to external pressure on Russia. Whatever the case, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna will not make ‘external bodies press on the Russian Federation to rehabilitate the members of tsar family’, head of the Russian Imperial House's chancellery Alexander Zakatov has stated at an Interfax news conference on Thursday. He did not exclude a possibility of turning to the European Court of Human Rights on the denial to rehabilitate the tsar family, but Zakatov noted that in this case only the question of violating processional rights would be raised. Grand Duchess’ lawyer German Lukyanov stated that he intended to lodge a complaint to the Russia’s Supreme Court presidium so that it could assess the matter anew. The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation denied rehabilitation to Nicholas II and members of his family, thus confirming the refusal of the Prosecutor General's Office. The Court decided that Nicholas II, his spouse and five children executed in 1918 were not eligible for rehabilitation.
